Letting go of lies and embracing your God-given identity

ree

This post carries significant importance, and I pray that God uses it not just in my life, but in yours—that He portions it out perfectly to each of you, and that your hearts will be open to receive it.

Embracing God's truth on this matter transformed my life many years ago. While I logically understood that only my Creator could define my identity, it took time for this truth to penetrate my heart. For years, I allowed the opinions of others to shape my sense of self, living under a false identity. This is a struggle many of us face.

God delivered me in an instant.

When I finally heard His truth and chose to embrace it as my own, everything

changed. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do now.

Please, take a moment to ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in this process.

• Reflect on any lies spoken over you or accepted as truth.

• Write these lies down on a sheet of paper.

• Close your eyes, lift the paper to God, and ask Him to take these falsehoods from you forever.

• Forgive those who spoke these lies over you, and ask for God’s forgiveness for believing them.

• Spend some time in prayer.

Now, tear up the paper—symbolically discarding the false identity it represents. As you do, envision casting it into the pit of hell, where it belongs. Take a deep breath.

You are free.

Now replace the lies with the truth.

Faith is a choice. Decide to trust God's Word. Repeat aloud the following, affirming your true identity as described by the infallible Word of God:

My Beloved Child, this is your true identity.

A dearly loved and highly prized child of God, fearfully and wonderfully crafted for a unique purpose, destined for great things in God’s kingdom. Created in God’s own image. Fiercely pursued and blood-bought by Jesus Christ. Part of Christ’s body. A Holy Spirit–filled temple of God—led, equipped, gifted, and called. More than a conqueror. An overcomer. A victor—not a victim. Above, not beneath. Chosen, redeemed, and accepted. Set apart, sanctified, and justified. An ambassador for Christ. A citizen of heaven. On a mission for God Himself. Blessed with every spiritual blessing. A friend of Jesus. A joint heir with Christ. Set free and forgiven.

God smiles when He thinks of you and will never stop loving you.

You are His. Daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords. You are Royal.

Hold on to the truth.

Absolutely anything that does not align with the truth as revealed in the Word of God is a lie. Let go of those falsehoods and cling tightly to the truth of who God says you are.

Repeat this list of affirmations as often as needed, and walk boldly in the victory that Jesus died to give you.

May this truth be firmly bound to your heart forevermore.

God bless you abundantly.

🍃 Scripture to Reflect On

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”—1 John 3:1

🍃 Your Turn

Have you believed any lies about your identity? What truth from God’s Word do you need to start embracing today?

Take a moment to journal or pray about it. Consider writing down one affirmation that speaks most to your heart, and speak it aloud each day this week.

Feel free to share in the comments—I’d love to hear how God is reminding you of who you are.
