Two Truths, a Lie, and a Lot of Grace

Ever played Two Truths and a Lie? I’ll go first.
I love writing.
I love writing.
I love writing.
There it is—my confession. And yes, one of those might be the lie... at least on some days.
Writing has always been an outlet for me—a way to process, express, and connect with God. But now that writing is part of my career—something I’m offering to others, not just keeping between me and God—it’s stretching me in ways I didn’t expect.
Some days, the words pour out of me. I feel like I’m living my dream and walking in my purpose.
Other days... I sit and stare at a blinking cursor on a blank screen, questioning everything. I start second-guessing my calling, doubting my ability, and wondering why I ever thought I could do this in the first place.
Here’s what I wrestle with most:
What if I’m not good enough for this?
What if I mess it up? What if I disappoint God—or you—or myself?
Before this season, I ran a successful business for over two decades. I knew what needed to be done and how to do it—every single day. I had systems, structure, clarity, and confidence.
But stepping into Christian writing as a calling? It’s vulnerable. Creative. Holy. And honestly, terrifying.
I find myself rushing when I should be resting. Performing when God is simply asking me to trust. I worry more about failing than I care to admit.
But here’s what I’m learning (again and again):
God isn’t asking me to be perfect—He’s asking me to stay near.
If you’re walking into something new—starting a business, raising kids, leading in ministry, or simply living through a season of change, I want to remind you:
-
You don’t have to carry the pressure.
-
You don’t have to prove yourself.
-
You don’t have to be perfect.
You just have to rest in the One who knows exactly what He's doing, who fully understands why He called you, and who never intended for you to walk this path alone. Rest in the One who lovingly whispers to your soul, "My dear child, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness'" (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV).
When I start to spiral or feel overwhelmed, I come back to this simple prayer:
Lord, I’m afraid I’ll mess this up. Remind me that You’re the one who called me—and You’ll carry me. Help me to follow, not perform. I give You my fear, my words, and my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It’s not polished. It’s not perfect. But it’s honest—and for today, that’s enough.
So, if you’re feeling the pressure to be more, do more, or prove your worth—pause.
Breathe.
Pray.
Re-center.
He’s got you. And you’re not alone
